My Political Compass
After reading a post on Peak Energy I thought I would take the Political Compass Test again to see if I had changed over the years. Here is mine - which has not changed:
The Political Compass
Economic Left/Right: -8.00
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -7.23
| Authoritarian | |||
| Left |
|
Right | |
| Libertarian | |||
This is the international chart - I don't mind being with those people.
"A diverse professional team has assessed the words and actions of internationally known contemporary leaders to give you an idea of how they relate to each other on the political compass.
Wow. I did this test some time ago and came out on top of the Dalai Lama. Perhaps I should give out scarves like he does. I certainly laugh as much.
I think it's kind of cool to be with the like of Nelson Mandela and the Dalai Lama.
A thought: When I'm in a calm and considered mood I am with the Dalai but when I get angry I'm up with Angela Merkel. It that the explanation? Those up in the top right quadrant spend their lives permanently angry!

David - the problem that I have is that I answered the questions exactly how I feel about things. I cannot imagine a person that answers the questions to get into the top right hand corner. They must be really sad people.

Am I the only person on the planet who lives in the bottom right quadrant ? I guess I should look on the bright side - the closest one to me out of that lot is the Dalai Lama.
Since when is Ratzinger a communist by the way ? Last time I checked he'd done a pretty serious job of wiping out Latin American liberation theology in the church...

Stephen, you and I ended up in the same quadrant, but we seem to see the nuclear issue so incredibly differently. Thanks for pointing me to the test. Maybe I'm not as Republican as I thought...either that or I have to quit watching all those documentaries about big corporations. ;)

Kirk - Keep watching the videos they must be doing some good :-) I don't think that it is strange that we see the nuclear issue so differently. My position is so extreme deliberately because I do not want to see any nuclear power at all however I accept the reality that nuclear power is here to stay and will form a part of the overall mix. However my ideal target is no nuclear power so I always argue from that position.
I just hope that you are right and we can store the waste safely and that all countries are going to do it.

Cool concept. BTW Mr Gloor, can you please do me a favour and change my web address to my blog? I've closed the old eclipsenow.org site as so many new and more authoritative Aussie websites have sprung up, but have moved all my layman's thoughts and campaign posters across to http://eclipsenow.blogspot.com/
One day I hope to have some peaknik posters where people can download the poster in Free Open Source Software and edit the tear-off tabs to refer back to their OWN blog, peaknik campaign group, or website. That way we'll get more circulation of these concepts in the real world, not just the net.
